Cuff me!

Happy new year! Yeah, I know I'm a little late with that sentiment, but life gets in the way of blogging (especially when you have four blogs staring you in the face screaming UPDATE ME!). Anyhoo, hope you thrifty/crafty types are well, and let's hope 2012 is a screamer.

In my concerted effort to a) not buy ANY more yarn/craft supplies/etc this year, and b) use what I already have on hand, I have taken very happily to recycling and upcycling what I have in my box of tricks. Take, for instance, these cuff bracelets I've been constructing from cardboard yarn spools, bits of vintage ribbon and trim, glitter, and paper ephemera. I've made three so far, and they are all uniquely different!

Cuff One: LONDON FOREVER! Made with old Monopoly money, vintage crochet magazine patterns, 1960s ribbon trim, and sprinkled with pink glitter.

Cuff Two: CROSS CREEK. Made from 1950s-60s rick-rack, a vintage bit of a Cross Creek book jacket, black lace and assorted modern graphics. Amazing what you can do with cardboard, paper, ribbon and glue! I hadn't taken a picture of the first one I made, which I gave to a friend. Drat. But it was cute!
