DIY Day: Recycled Envelopes
Ever have days when you need a random envelope but can't find one? Don't feel like running to the drug store or big box office store to buy any? Do the green thing and craft your own out of vintage papergoods! I crafted this batch from a 1965 McCall's recipe index book that was, frankly, no good to me in its original form, since there were no actual recipes in it!
Find a medium-sized envelope, and carefully peel the sides away from the center. Be careful not to rip any of it, for you will be tracing it onto your new paper. If you have a book like mine, open to the center of the book where the staples meet, and pry them open.
Carefully remove the pages from the book or magazine one by one. Set them aside and choose one page as a template to trace your envelope onto.

Trace slowly. Then, using scissors, cut the shape of the envelope out. Fold at the natural points and using your fingernail or the edge of a coin, press firmly for a good crease.
Use glue stick to seal the corners together and let dry.
Voila - you have an envelope for gift giving, holidays, paying bills (ick) or any other occasion that requires a paper vessel!

I love this. I have a bunch of old sheet music.....I can't play the piano so I might as well make envelopes?
